(March 23, 2016) On March 19th, Family Promise of the Verdugos, an organization serving families in the Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, Studio City and North Hollywood, hosted their 2nd Annual Gala “Home Run to End Homelessness” at the Dodger Stadium Club. The event truly was a home run, with well over 200 people in attendance. The VIP tour of Dodger Stadium was a big hit as guests enjoyed insider access and photo opportunities in the locker room and dugout. The fun continued in the Stadium Club as guests enjoyed drinks, Dodger Dogs, music and a silent auction with an exclusive view of the sun setting over Dodger Stadium.
Albert Hernandez, Executive Director, emceed the program which included moving testimonials. Kerlissa Camacho, a Family Promise graduate whose family recently moved into an apartment of their own, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to keep her family of five together and whole. A current program participant and mother of a two-month infant, stirred the audience when she articulated how love and concern for her son motivated her to obtain employment within a week of joining the program. These speakers personified the impact of Family Promise and the program’s success in helping situationally homeless children and their families get back on their feet.
All members of the community are invited to join the 365 Cub by donating a dollar a day ($30 a month) to provide a safety net to local families in crisis. To join Club 365 call Albert Hernandez at (818) 847-1547.
